Like many New Englanders, when I think of fall I think of apples, and when I think of apples I always think of apple crisp. My favorite apple crisp recipe is a family recipe that my mom used to make every fall for myself and my siblings. What I love about this recipe is the inclusion of oats as they add great texture and a little bit of fiber to the recipe. In terms of what apples to use for baking, we want an apple that will maintain flavor and texture. I personally like using Cortland, Jonagold, or Granny Smith. Feel free to add raisins or craisins to the recipe for some added color.

Do you use exchanges? ~3/4 cup of this recipe would be one “dessert” or 2 starches and 1 fat
